David Wantz presented “Sagamore of the Wabash” recognition by Rep. Justin Moed
STATEHOUSE – David Wantz, the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs at the University of Indianapolis, has been presented one of Indiana’s most prestigious awards by State Rep. Justin Moed (D-Indianapolis).
The Sagamore of the Wabash, presented by Governor Mike Pence, is considered to be one of the greatest honors to come from the state’s chief executive. It is a personal tribute awarded to Hoosiers who have rendered a distinguished service to Indiana and its people.
“In his 32 years at the University of Indianapolis, David Wantz has been a driving force in ensuring the university is a positive influence on the lives of students as well as the entire Indianapolis community,” said Moed.
Moed noted that Wantz’s involvement in the Indianapolis area extends beyond his commitment to the university as he has founded an organizational consulting practice that boasts clients such as the Higher Learning Commission and the American Bar Association.
Wantz has also served on several boards including the Marion County Public Library, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Merit Board and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful where he worked to improve the community around him.
“Throughout his lifetime, David has selflessly given to our community,” said Moed. “His expertise in organization consulting, psychotherapy, influence and persuasion has earned him a tenured position as an associate professor of psychology.
“He has been a catalyst in helping make each day better for the University Heights Neighborhood and his unwavering commitment to academia has been a valuable contribution to Indianapolis,” said Moed.
“David Wantz has been a tireless community activist and a true leader who serves as an inspiration to all academics pursuing great achievements,” Moed concluded.
