Beck, Indiana House honors state champion Robert A. Taft Middle School dance team
Representative Lisa Beck (D-Lakes of Four Seasons) and Indiana House members recently paid tribute to the Robert A. Taft Middle School Dance Team of Crown Point for its continued excellence.
The Taft Dance Team won three state championships on March 10, 2019, during state finals in New Castle, Indiana.
The team pulled out a win for the Junior High AA Pom title and teammate Alyssa Androff won the Junior High Solo title. A small ensemble consisting of Androff, Avery Teibel, and Molly Tully won the Junior High Ensemble title.
The Taft Dance Team consists of 13 dancers – Androff, Emily Brooks, Madeline Degenhart, Ellie Depta, Marianne Gerona, Riley Grill, Sarah Hill, Colleen Kozlowski, Kalliopi Sakaleros, Mia Targett, Teibel, Maddie Thunberg, and Tully.
Coaches Nicolle Fischer and Annie Vassar led the team through a victorious season, adding this year’s honors to a growing list of state and regional titles they have won over the past 10 years.
“Through dancing, these young girls have built confidence in themselves and each other,” Beck said. “Dance is a sport that demands discipline and commitment and that is exactly what these girls bring to the table. It is apparent that each dancer on this team is talented and dedicated to strengthening their skills individually and as a team. I believe these girls will continue to grow together on and off the stage.”
