Argos native Libby Moyer named Verizon Scholarship winner in 2018 session of General Assembly
INDIANAPOLIS – Libby Moyer from Argos has been rewarded by Verizon Communications, Inc., for her outstanding work as an intern for the Indiana House Democrats during the 2018 session of the Indiana General Assembly.
Moyer, the daughter of Holly and Gary Moyer from Argos, received a $3,000 scholarship from Verizon officials during a ceremony in the Indiana House chamber earlier this week. She has worked in the House Democratic Policy Office this session.
“Libby is a wonderful example of the kind of hard-working young person that I hope chooses a career in public service in the years to come,” said House Democratic Leader Terry Goodin from Austin. “We are extremely grateful that she joined us for this session.”
House Democratic Policy Director Jack Halloran added, “It was a privilege to work with Libby in the Policy Office this session. She demonstrated an immediate grasp of many potentially difficult issues that were discussed this session, and having her around made my work so much easier.”
Democratic Intern Director Anne Hancock noted, “Through the internship program, we give young Hoosiers a chance to see the inner workings of state government, and provide a glimpse of what a life of serving the public can provide. Based on Libby’s accomplishments this session, I look forward to hearing more from her in the years to come.”
Moyer is a 2014 graduate of Argos High School, and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Butler University in 2017. She plans to attend law school this fall, with a focus on employment and labor law.
“I feel very honored being chosen to receive this scholarship, and it will be very helpful for paying for law school in the fall,” Libby said. “I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to work with a wonderful intern group, and to be selected as the scholarship winner from the House Democrats is a gift.
“I want to thank my mom Holly and my dad Gary for their endless support in my life. I would also like to thank Jack Halloran, for giving me challenging projects that I was able to make into my own,” she concluded.
