Addressing the needs of Indiana veterans is a top priority, says State Rep. Sheila Klinker
As a member of the Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee, I was pleased to co-author a new law that will help the state find ways to address the needs of veterans in the court system. As a result of House Enrolled Act 1402, the legislature will use the interim study committee process this fall to determine the next steps toward implementation of an electronic system to provide the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs with criminal case information that will aid coordination of services.
I also supported several additional measures that assist our military veterans, including Senate Enrolled Act 262, which gives qualified disabled veterans the option to request a permanent disability parking hang tag at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to provide them the flexibility to ride in any vehicle.
