State Rep. Mitch Gore
After spending his entire life on Indianapolis' East and Southeast sides, Mitch Gore is a recognized community advocate, small business operator, and public safety professional. Mitch worked hard to keep his family's Washington Square restaurant afloat during the Great Recession. As a product of public schools and a working family, Mitch knows what it's like to hustle for positive results.
Mitch worked in community development for the City of Indianapolis, eliminating blight in our neighborhoods, demolishing unsafe buildings, and cracking down on slumlords. Now, a Captain with the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Mitch works to rethink how we treat mental health and addiction so we can free up space in our jails for the violent criminals. He believes in compassionate policing and knows that the best way to keep everyone safe is for law enforcement to respect the people they serve thereby earning the people's trust.
Since being elected in 2020, Mitch has authored and championed legislation to reform and enhance law enforcement, battle the scourge of gun violence, and protect and uplift veterans. He has also proudly voted to reduce healthcare costs, increase teacher pay and student achievement, and lower property taxes.
Mitch serves as the ranking member on the Courts and Criminal Code committee and also serves on the Roads and Transportation, Veterans Affairs, and Public Safety committees. He is also an Assistant Minority Whip.
Mitch and his incredible wife, Brittany, have one daughter, Mindy, and a goofy mutt named Daisy. They proudly live in Warren Township.
