House Democratic Leader Phil GiaQuinta (D-Fort Wayne) issued the following statement celebrating the official start date of Fort Wayne's Downtown Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) this upcoming Sunday, May 5:

“I am thrilled that the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) provisions of SEA 20 (2023), which I co-sponsored, will finally be able to be enjoyed by residents of Fort Wayne as well as visitors to our city. The Downtown DORA will allow people to patron our great local businesses that have been authorized as vendors within the DORA and to enjoy their beverage while strolling around downtown. I can't wait to toast the Downtown DORA's opening this Sunday and hope to see friends and neighbors there.”

GiaQuinta reminded visitors to follow the rules of the DORA, including abiding by the standard age minimum for purchasing alcohol (21 years of age) and following the requirement that beverages be consumed in entirety within the DORA.
