The purpose of the Indiana House Democratic Caucus (hereinafter referred to as “IHDC”) social media platforms and website is specifically to provide information about Indiana legislation, government initiatives, and public policies.

The Indiana House of Representatives encourages the public, as well as members of the House, to participate in and contribute content to social media platforms and website. Contributors (hereinafter referred to as “Participants”) are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities to provide input through the various social media platforms and the website(s), and in so doing contribute to a fair and respectful dialogue among the general public and Indiana’s elected public officials.

To promote open and productive dialogue, and in the spirit of fair and transparent access to the IHDC’s social media platforms and website(s), Participants are hereby advised that all postings, including any links to 3rd-party sites, shall be subject to limited monitoring for appropriateness. For purposes herein, appropriateness is defined as postings that are relevant to official government business of the Indiana House, responsive to the issue(s) being discussed, and phrased in respectful and appropriate language for the general public.

The following types of content are considered inappropriate for posting on the House’s social media platforms and website(s): commercial; self-promotional; campaign-related; prurient; abusive; discriminatory speech, including but not limited to, hate speech based on race, gender, sex, national origin, age, sexual orientation, religion or disability; in certain contexts, personal contact information.

The Indiana House Democratic Caucus reserves the right to remove and/or block posts, content and/or comments that contain: advertising for private or political purposes; harassment or defamation; pornographic content; encouragement of illegal activity; sharing of confidential, proprietary or otherwise restricted information; the posting of graphic or violent images; the use of obscene, offensive or profane language; comments or information that was “spammed” or repeatedly posted within a short period of time; or any discriminatory comments that target or disparage any ethnicity, race, age group, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability status.

Comments should be limited to a discussion of legitimate concerns related to legislation and state government. Campaign information should not be posted.

Data Collection

This Site may gather and store certain information about your visit such as the type of browser used, the date and time you accessed the Site, the pages you visited, whether you were referred to the Site from another page, etc. This information does not identify you personally. However, if you decide to send your representative an e-mail, subscribe to an email list or fill out a form, some personal data may be collected.
