The new floor leader of the Indiana House Democratic Caucus is State Rep. Cherrish Pryor of Indianapolis.

Pryor was selected for that leadership post when caucus members met to organize themselves on Nov. 7, the day following the 2018 General Election.

As floor leader, Pryor will play a key role in expressing the House Democratic Caucus positions on many of the issues that come before the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2019 and 2020 sessions of the Indiana State Legislature. Pryor also currently serves as chair of the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus.

Pryor has served since Nov. 4, 2008, as the legislator representing the citizens of Indiana House District 94 in the Indiana House of Representatives. Cherrish previously served on the City-County Council of Marion County and Indianapolis from January 2007 to November 2008. Prior to joining the City-County Council, she was employed by that body as the legislative and public affairs director.

Pryor currently works as the chief deputy for the Marion County Treasurer’s Office. Prior positions include real estate manager for the Marion County Auditor’s Office, lobbyist for the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, program director for the State Student Assistance Commission, and legislative assistant for the Indiana House of Representatives.
