Shackleford to partner with PACE for National Recovery Month celebration in September
INDIANAPOLIS – State Representative Robin Shackleford (D-Indianapolis), Chair of the Indiana Black Legislative Black Caucus and Ranking Minority Member of the State’s Public Health Committee, today announced she will be partnering with Public Advocates for Community Re-Entry (PACE) for the 3rd annual Shackleford Steps with Recovery 5k Walk as part of their annual Recovery Month celebration in September.
National Recovery Month is celebrated every September to educate the public on mental and substance abuse treatments and services available throughout the community.
“This event will be a celebration of the tremendous work the PACE team has done throughout the year as they strive to help members of our community through their substance abuse and mental disorders,” Shackleford stated. “We will also be celebrating the incredibly hard but awe-inspiring journey many individuals have taken to combat their substance abuse issues. It is time for the world to understand that addiction is a health issue and should not be treated like a crime.”
The run/walk will be held on September 19, 2020 at the PACE building, 2855 N Keystone Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46218 at 10 a.m.
All CDC guidelines will be followed during the event and social distancing will be enforced. Masks are required for attendees, organizers and vendors.
