Shackleford partners with PACE for National Recovery Month celebration
INDIANAPOLIS – State Rep. Robin Shackleford (D-Indianapolis) will partner with Public Advocates for Community Re-Entry (PACE) Indianapolis to host the 4th annual Shackleford Steps with Recovery 5K Walk on September 18 as part of their annual Recovery Month Celebration.
National Recovery Month is celebrated every September to educate the public on mental and substance abuse treatments and services available throughout the community.
“The pandemic has taken a toll on all Hoosiers, but most especially on those struggling with substance abuse and mental disorders,” Shackleford said.
“The PACE has gone above and beyond to help our community and this event is our way to celebrate their dedication and service. We will also be celebrating the incredibly hard but awe-inspiring journey many individuals have taken to combat their substance abuse issues. It is time for the world to understand that addiction is a health issue and should not be treated like a crime.”
Those wishing to participate in the 5K Walk as an individual or team should register at paceindy.org/national-recovery-month.
