Yesterday (Nov. 6), State Rep. Cherrish Pryor (D-Indianapolis) was re-elected as the House Democratic Floor Leader in a private caucus vote.

Pryor released the following statement in response:

“I am thankful that the Indiana House Democratic Caucus once again placed their trust in me as Floor Leader. During the 124th Indiana General Assembly, I will continue to work with my caucus members to ensure their success and the success of our caucus agenda.  I am also excited to continue working to improve the availability and affordability of housing, fighting for lower utility costs for consumers and securing more equitable health outcomes. Additionally, we'll work to ensure that we pass a budget that adequately funds our public schools and prioritizes investments in the health and wellbeing of Hoosiers over handouts to out-of-state companies that are not transparent.

“Just as I am grateful to my caucus for choosing me to be part of the leadership team, I am even more thankful to my constituents for giving me yet another opportunity to represent them at the Statehouse. Uplifting my community by advocating for their needs is my number one priority as a legislator and the most rewarding part of the job. It is an honor and a privilege to serve the wonderful people of House District 94 for another term in the General Assembly.

“I'm ready to get to work.”

Indiana House Democratic Caucus leadership positions went into effect immediately following the internal election yesterday afternoon.

The 124th General Assembly will convene for the ceremonial start of session on Nov. 19, otherwise known as Organization Day.
