Pryor and Shackleford elected to NBCSL leadership positions
INDIANAPOLIS – Today, State Representatives Cherrish Pryor (D-Indianapolis) and Robin Shackleford (D-Indianapolis) announced that they have been named as Treasurer and At-Large member, respectively, for the National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL).
The NBCSL is a national organization centered on promoting educational research and training to help enhance the effectiveness of its members as they consider public policy and legislation that impacts Black constituents in their states.
Both members are actively engaged with the organization and have held numerous leadership positions prior to their current roles. Pryor has previously been an At-Large member, regional chair, regional vice chair, co-chair of the Energy, Transportation and Environment committee, co-chair of the 2017 NBCSL Annual Legislative Conference and will now serve as Treasurer. Shackleford will continue as an At-Large member and has previously been a health workshop presenter, co-chair on the Youth, Children and Family committee and a co-chair for the 2017 NBCSL Annual Legislative Conference.
“I am honored my fellow state legislative colleagues from around the country have given me an executive officer role for the NBCSL,” Pryor said. “I look forward to serving in this leadership role where I can be instrumental in advancing the needs of the African American community and the organization.”
“I am excited to once again take on an NBCSL At-Large leadership position,” Shackleford said. “This organization truly helps provide essential research on issues impacting Black Hoosiers.”
Pryor was sworn in during the virtual NBCSL Annual Legislative Conference and her term begins on January 1, 2021.
