INDIANAPOLIS – Northwestern Indiana lawmakers are inviting the Hoosier State’s best and brightest college students and recent graduates to apply for a paid internship at the Indiana Statehouse for the 2023 Legislative Session, which begins in January. Indiana House Democrats are now accepting applications for six internship programs that immerse students and graduates in state government while providing valuable hands-on experience. When applying, applicants can choose from the following internship opportunities:

  • Legislative and Constituent Services
  • Policy Analyst
  • Indiana Black Legislative Caucus (IBLC)
  • Communications
  • Ways and Means Fiscal Analyst
  • Graphic and Print Design

“The House Democratic Caucus internship program is a great paid internship opportunity for our young Hoosiers to get a taste of public service and civic leadership,” Rep. Mike Andrade (D-Munster) said. “I take pride in mentoring students from District 12 and the Region when they intern for our caucus and hope to see more of them at the Statehouse during this next round of internships.”

“If you are interested in how government works or are looking for a challenging position, this is a great opportunity,” Rep. Pat Boy (D-Michigan City) said.

“Being an intern at the Statehouse is an excellent opportunity for college students to gain insight into how government works, as well as insight into themselves,” Rep. Earl Harris Jr. (D-East Chicago) said. “Working in a fast-paced and consequential environment teaches students about work ethic and being part of a team.”

“I look forward to working with the best and brightest from Northwest Indiana communities that will help Northwest Indiana be a great place to live, work and play,” Rep. Chuck Moseley (D-Portage) said.

The priority deadline for internship applications is Oct. 15, 2022, and the final deadline is Oct. 31, 2022. For more information and to apply, click here:
