Fleming: Indiana House Democratic Caucus to offer paid internships to students and recent graduates
INDIANAPOLIS – Rep. Rita Fleming (D-Jeffersonville) announced today that the Indiana House Democratic Caucus will offer college students and recent graduates several internships in the upcoming 2020 session of the Indiana General Assembly.
Different internships will be available to interested applicants, including policy, media relations, video production, graphic and print design, fiscal analysis, member services and an opportunity to work with the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus.
These are full-time, paid positions with a bi-weekly stipend of $750. Academic credit is available but eligibility for credit is determined by the intern’s school.
“These internships will provide Indiana’s emerging professionals with a rare insight into how the government works,” says Fleming. “They open a door to a career in politics and many of our interns continue on to become valued staff members.”
To qualify for this internship, applicants must be at least a junior in college, but no specific major is required. A desire to learn about government is strongly encouraged. An online application, cover letter, résumé, academic transcript and three letters of recommendation must be completed by October 31, 2019 to be considered.
