Beck to lead discussion on future of 109th Ave. at Sept. 19 community meeting
INDIANAPOLIS – State Rep. Lisa Beck (D-Lakes of the Four Seasons) will lead a community discussion about the future of 109th Avenue at 5 p.m. (CST) September 19 in the Winfield Public Library Branch, located at 10771 Randolph Street, Crown Point.
“Everyone agrees that something must be done to improve 109th Avenue, which is one of the most heavily traveled roads in our area,” Beck said.
“With the increased traffic has come the increased risk of accidents, and a corresponding desire to make improvements as soon as possible. In Winfield, the types of changes that are needed begin with turn lanes, traffic circles, and traffic signals throughout the stretch of 109th Avenue that runs through the community.
“The problem for Winfield is that the town simply doesn’t have the financial ability to make these road improvements, which are estimated to cost as much as $28 million,” she continued. “To that end, I have invited town, county and state officials to join me at this community meeting on September 19 to discuss the extent of the problem and potential solutions. This is a matter that affects the economic health and public safety of the community, and I encourage everyone to attend the meeting.”
