INDIANAPOLIS – State Rep. Gail Riecken, who is a member of the Commission on Improving the Status of Children in Indiana, today issued the following statement regarding a child abuse and neglect training program recently made available to the public:
One of the nationally-recognized indicators of a state’s success is its ability and willingness to address recurring child abuse and neglect. You may recall that recent tragedies led the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) to devote greater resources to this issue.
An outgrowth of this effort is a new online training course that explains how to recognize and report incidents of child abuse or neglect.
The DCS also continues to maintain a toll-free Child Abuse Hotline that allows reports of abuse or neglect to be reported anonymously. You can find out more about the DCS Child Abuse Hotline at the DCS website.
