Mara Candelaria Reardon was the first Latina elected to the Indiana General Assembly in 2006.
She serves in the 12th Indiana House District, which encompasses all of Munster, all of Highland, parts of Griffith, and Hammond. She is currently serving her fifth term.
Mara has served on the Ways & Means, Education, Environmental, Governmental/ Regulatory Reform, and Small Business/Economic Development Committees, specializing in budget and fiscal issues. Additionally, she has served as a Commissioner for the Indiana Commission for Women, Market Development Recycling Board, Minority and Women’s Business Enterprise Commission, Hispanic/Latino Affairs Commission, and the Indiana Commission to Combat Substance Abuse.
Ms. Reardon is also a Principal at MCR Partners, Ltd. a consulting firm which specializes in development, government affairs and economic development finance.
She is the Vice Chair of the Board of Hispanic Caucus Chairs (BHCC), and serves on the National Association of Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Education Fund Board of Directors. Ms. Reardon is also a member of the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators (NHCSL) and the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus (IBLC).
Mara has been married to Matt Reardon for 20 years and they reside in Munster with their two teenage children.
