INDIANAPOLIS - More than 600 area residents joined State Representatives Dan Forestal and Justin Moed (both D-Indianapolis) for their first Earth Day Tree Giveaway event over the weekend at Garfield Park.
The two representatives gave away 300 trees in under an hour. They also gave away about 800 hot dogs, chips, and water.
Indyconnect and the Humane Society hosted tables at the event and handed out free dog food, treats, and pet care information.
“We were pleased to see so many folks come out to celebrate Earth Day with us,” Forestal said. “We had a lot of fun and look forward to hosting the event again next year.”
“This event was a great way for us to spend time with our neighbors,” Moed added. “We hope the trees will grow and make our communities healthier, more vibrant places to live.”
