Battles’ House Bill 1170 was passed by the Indiana House with a 96-0 vote and will move on to the Indiana Senate for further consideration.
The legislation provides grants to new or expanding businesses so that they can enroll employees in the Training 2000 program. Training 2000 provides courses designed to train employees and create a more highly skilled workforce.
Grants will be offered through the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC).
“The purpose of the bill is to entice manufacturers to retain or hire Indiana workers,” said Battles. “This training program allows Hoosiers to expand their skillsets.
“The goal is to expand our skilled workforce and encourage economic growth. We want to make Indiana a more desirable place for business.”
