INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana General Assembly today sent to the governor’s desk a bill cosponsored by Rep. David Niezgodski (D-South Bend) that continues retirement benefits for Lottery Commission employees.
With the governor’s signature on Senate Bill 526, employees within the lottery commission will be treated to the same benefits as employees under Indiana’s Public Employee Retirement Fund (PERF). In the event PERF benefits are not at par with their current plan, Lottery Commission members are guaranteed that their benefits would be made whole.
“This bill puts the Lottery Commission responsible for making the difference in benefits,” he said. “It is important that the employees don’t lose out.”
Also under this legislation, an individual who retires and is reemployed within 30 days may continue to earn benefits but not supplemental benefits.
