STATEHOUSE - State Rep. Cherrish Pryor (D-Indianapolis), State Sen. Greg Taylor (D-Indianapolis) and the Progressive Baptist Church will host a November 4 forum to answer questions about the Affordable Care Act and help area residents enroll for health insurance coverage.
The forum will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. November 4 at the church, located at 4625 W. 59th St. [get a map].
Joining the officials will be Congressman Andre Carson (D-Ind.); Kathleen Falk, regional director for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services; and other community providers and experts who will be on hand to answer questions.
“I am pleased to be a part of something that will help people receive health care,” Pryor said. “Health is a basic necessity, and the sooner people can sign up and start receiving services, the better off everyone will be. Many people already have started to see the benefits of the new health care law, but I also know there are many who have questions about it. This forum will help answer those questions and direct people to where they can get help.”
Congressman Carson noted, “In the absence of health care reform, over 6,000 seniors in my district were unable to afford the cost of their prescription drugs. I strongly believe every American should have access to affordable health insurance.
“The impact of the Affordable Care Act is clear: over 75,000 Indianapolis residents now have access to health insurance,” he added. “I invite members of the community to come to this forum to learn more about this landmark legislation and their enrollment options.”
Progressive Baptist Church Pastor Michael Jones said, “The Bible teaches that the people perish for a lack of knowledge. We don’t have to perish. Come and get knowledge about the Affordable Care Act. This knowledge may just save your life.”
